about

HEY, I'M ANNALISE

me

I'm a twenty-something costume assistant from Essex, England.

After graduating from Arts Uni Bournemouth with a First-Class Honours Degree in Costume and Performance Design, I set my sights for working in the costume industry.

I have a passion for art, films, vintage clothing, costume design, sewing and sourdough. I'm very passionate about homemade sourdough.

JODY

AMBA

ME

Here's a picture of my best friends Jody and Amba and myself during my final major project photoshoot at Uni. Jody modelled the costume, Amba assisted, and Liv (who took this pic) did the hair and makeup. I couldn't have got through uni without them.

Dream
Big...

My biggest dream is to become a successful Costume Designer for films...maybe win an Oscar or two for Best Costume Design...(dream BIG!!)

This pursuit towards a career in costume began sometime in 2018. My mum bought me a ticket for "The Harry Potter Experience - Behind The Seams" tour at the Warner Bros Studio.

In the tour, we were shown the design and making process of the costumes. From initial sketches, breakdown processes, to the finished costume. I'll never forget the eureka moment I had while I was on the tour. I had been given a glimpse into the movie magic, I had touched some of the costumes that before were only two dimensional on my tv screen. This experience opened my eyes to the possibility of costume design being a tangible career path.

After that, I studied costume at Arts Uni Bournemouth, graduated, and have been working here there and everywhere in the costume industry in the hopes to gain as much skill and knowledge as I can in order to one day become a great costume designer.

Another dream of mine is to establish a successful slow fashion clothing brand. Currently named 'Annalise Made It'.  I want my brand to promote high quality handmade pieces that are made to last.  â€‹

I Love Movies

When I was younger, my dad would take me to our local Blockbuster (I wish these shops were still around, bring back DVD's being mainstream!). He would buy me two DVD's to rent. I would play the same two films all weekend on repeat on my portable DVD player. There's nothing like becoming lost in the narrative of a film. I'm addicted to it. â€‹

I love asking everyone their favourite films list. It's an annoying question to ask but I love learning about which films people rate the most, which ones have stuck with them.

My list is below. Some on the list never leave, others are new to the list...

My top films:

The Goonies (1985) - this always stays top of the list

Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind (2004)

Before Sunrise (1995)

Before Sunset (2004)

Edward Scissorhands (1990)

Little Women (2019)

Thelma and Louise (1991)

My Bestfriend's Wedding (1997)

Hot Fuzz (2007)

A Streetcar Named Desire (1951)

Inglourious Basterds (2009)

Pulp Fiction (1994)Yes, I love Quinten Tarantino

Priscilla, Queen of The Desert (1994)

The Godfather (1972)New to this list, it's a classic for a reason

Lost in Translation (2003)

Kramer vs Kramer (1979)

Misery (1990)

Nosferatu (2024) - I watched this film about 12 hours ago... it was SO good! The costumes, the shots, all incredible. Already a classic i.m.o.

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory (2005)

*Honorable mentions*

- anything starring Sandra Bullock or Julia Roberts. Why are they all so good?! Most of these listed are romantic comedies. I didn't realise how much I enjoy a rom com until I made this film list. I think I enjoy them because they're an easy watch, funny, silly and just comforting!

The Proposal, Miss Congeniality, Two Weeks Notice, While You Were Sleeping, Hope Floats, The Lake House, A Time To Kill, Notting Hill, Erin Brockovich, Runaway Bride, Step Mom, Eat Pray Love, Mona Lisa Smile, Sleeping With The Enemy

- Bride Wars (2009)

- The Harry Potter film series

Since I can remember, I have always loved anything creative. From drawing, painting, sewing, to crocheting and pottery making. My mum always says, as soon as I was able to pick up a pencil, I was non-stop creating. My love for sewing began as soon as I sewed on my first button to a piece of scrap material I found in my mum's sewing box.

With my love of films and being creative, it seemed only right to pursue working in the film industry in the costume department.

Part of the fun about working in the costume department is being able to try on some incredible costumes!!
